Well, if “soon” is six months, then I’m doing exceedingly well. I’ve just returned to the lovely Pacific Northwest after trips to New York City (of course) and Santa Fe, New Mexico, of all places (for the amazing summer opera festival there). My thoughts on both of those places soon. While I miss the city, the natural landscape here is amazingly beautiful at this time of year, and I have the good fortune to live right on the edge of a vast state forest.
And the produce! I’ve been eating so many delicious tomatoes, and have discovered my new favorite thing: blistered cherry tomatoes. So delicious. Tip: throw in some garlic and onions while you’ve got the oven on; you won’t regret it.
I’m also currently reading War and Peace in preparation for a class on Anna Karenina in the fall, but I keep getting sidetracked by other more enticing (and shorter) books. Such as Steinbeck’s Travels with Charley, which even if it’s very, very fictionalized, is such a delightfully written and prescient book.
As usual, June and July have flown by. Less than two months until school starts once more…
